Hello,

Probably quite soon. Wirral has switched over from the 1st March, from CH15
UHF, 86 UHF and 93 UHF. The engineers that were meant to have looked after
the old system should have been shot as it never worked properly. They used
to blame pirates all the time, not that there were any operating! All the
bases could see each other and due to local terrain it was possible for more
than one RX to pick up a handheld, so when it was all relayed back to the
control room it sounded like interference. All the switching signals could
also be heard on links, and some RXs used to go open squelch. They also
used to TX on 3 aerials to one area at the same time, so handhelds got
something sounding like a garbled mass of speech with a whine and slight
delay. They still have to use CH2 VHF AM because of problems with
coverage/bad siting of aerials/unreliability of digital. The digital system
goes and makes sounds of bubbling mud, but standard FM would just make a
slight fluttering noise. Digital is all or nothing, at least FM will fade
and the radio can be moved, with digital it's a guessing game of waiting for
the data stream to correct. They also use CH22 VHF AM to talk to each other
in the cars when bored by the way. A number of planning applications for
o2-Airwave aerials were turned down. Then suddenly decisions were reversed
as in the case of one in Wallasey on the top of some flats. Ellesmere Port
area uses a wide area encrypted network and has done so for years. It's not
digital but will probably switch over.
£2.9 billion this new o2-Airwave thing has cost so far. Quite expensive
when it doesn't even work properly! Nice idea, good on paper, but doesn't
take into account that not every area is perfectly flat and level.

Still, if I had made £2.9billion I would make alsorts of silly claims.

Now that D2 (Warrington Police) have gone over, do you know of any other
local frequencies of similar interest, e.g. Shopwatch, cockhedge security,
golden square, birchwood etc. Also, where are the buses? (Yes I know they're
on the roads, but do you know the frequency?). Thought I'd ask as you seem
to be well-up on the current bobbies info. It would be great to find a
frequency listing somewhere which is in "Area/Town" order instead of
frequency order, any ideas?

Thanx in advance, Rick.
The engineers that were meant to have looked after the old system should

Actually, on the last Friday before Wirral (Alpha division) switched over
to
Airwave, a Pirate was operating, intermittently blurting dance music all
over
PR 15. The engineers probably decided to turn a blind eye - or deaf ear -
taking into consideration the imminent/impending migration.
They also use CH22 VHF AM to talk to each other in the cars when
bored by the way.
Frequently this is when the best conversations happen (I have heard a few
corkers in my time). I have recorded the following car-to-car frequencies
Car-to-Car 147.9625
Car-to-Car 147.9125
Car-to-Car 147.8750
Car-to-Car 147.8125
Car-to-Car 147.6750
Car-to-Car 147.4000
A number of planning applications for o2-Airwave aerials were turned
down.
There was an interesting piece in last months edition of Private Eye
regarding such matters. Did anyone else happen to read it?

Er, I thought they abandoned that a couple of years ago? Judging by recent
posts on this group, a number of people seem to be under the illusion
that the entire Cheshire force has gone digital - not so; at the time of
posting, only Warrington (451.5750).

Hi Rick

the main file on scanproma can be sorted however you want, but its actually
better to leave in freq order, then import into a database, such as MS Works
db and then you can search by various formats

Now that D2 (Warrington Police) have gone over, do you know of any other

Now that D2 (Warrington Police) have gone over, do you know of any other
local frequencies of similar interest, e.g. Shopwatch, cockhedge security,
golden square, birchwood etc. Also, where are the buses? (Yes I know
they're

on the roads, but do you know the frequency?). Thought I'd ask as you seem
to be well-up on the current bobbies info. It would be great to find a
frequency listing somewhere which is in "Area/Town" order instead of
frequency order, any ideas?
Thanx in advance, Rick.
The engineers that were meant to have looked after the old system

all the time, not that there were any operating!
Actually, on the last Friday before Wirral (Alpha division) switched

over
PR 15. The engineers probably decided to turn a blind eye - or deaf

taking into consideration the imminent/impending migration.
They also use CH22 VHF AM to talk to each other in the cars when
bored by the way.
Frequently this is when the best conversations happen (I have heard a

corkers in my time). I have recorded the following car-to-car
frequencies

Car-to-Car 147.9625
Car-to-Car 147.9125
Car-to-Car 147.8750
Car-to-Car 147.8125
Car-to-Car 147.6750
Car-to-Car 147.4000
A number of planning applications for o2-Airwave aerials were turned
down.
There was an interesting piece in last months edition of Private Eye
regarding such matters. Did anyone else happen to read it?
Ellesmere Port area uses a wide area encrypted network and has done
so for years.
Er, I thought they abandoned that a couple of years ago? Judging by

posts on this group, a number of people seem to be under the illusion
that the entire Cheshire force has gone digital - not so; at the time of
posting, only Warrington (451.5750).

its all about keeping up with inoformation in your locality

taxis/buses etc give an indication of traffic problems, city centre of other
problems, and of course if waiting for a bus then again you can get
indications as to why your bus is late,or if its going to be late etc.

it would not be a main area of listening but all serves a purpose.

all radio voice traffic is releveant to someone
