Yes, the charts are very confusing - especially if you don't have a key
sheet to decode all the symbols and marks. Visit the Transair shop at
Shoreham Airport. They keep a huge selection of charts and
publications. But beware... you can spend a fortune in there.
As for the airways in the vicinity of Havant, here's a summary:
UL980 - runs approx WSW - ENE
UR84 - runs approx WSW - ENE and terminates at a reporting point called
Hazel , north of Havant
UR8 - runs approx SWW - EEN
UY8 - runs approx W - E
There is a visual reporting point called AVANT (without the 'H' 'cos
only 5 letters are allowed) centered on the incinerator next to the
A27.
Low level routes (about 12000 feet and below) have the same numbers but
omit the U prefix.
You should be able to get traffic on the following frequencies when in
use:
